The long awaited update!!

Hello everyone and sorry for the delay in sending you an update. I know you are anxiously awaiting any news. We haven't had internet access until today. We first went to Belgorod to the Christian Clinic and the director hadn't paid for his Internet access and the next two nights he was downloading a movie. We are now in Kiev. We are staying at an apartment at Orphanage 12. They have dialup in Bogdan's office - it is not real fast, but it works.

There are so many things to catch you up on. There have been some good days and some pretty rough days (today). Right now, I am exhausted and I am sitting in the office with Bogdan, so it's hard to think of everything I want to say. (Tomorrow, he may have dialup set up in our apartment, then I will be able to write more.)

Long story short - Our paperwork is moving along and we already have the kids!! They are here in Kiev with us. We are awaiting their passports - hopefully we will get them Tuesday - and then we will be able to take them to the embassy. It seems like everything is on schedule so far - please keep praying!! You know in Ukraine, everything can fall apart at the drop of a hat - so I covet your prayers!! I have to back up a little bit, I know you all want to know how it went meeting them again. It was great!! We went there straight from the plane from Odessa. When we got there, Katya was playing outside and ran up to us and hugged Monte first and then me, and I introduced her to Korey. She wouldn't let me put her down. She just clung to me, but was in a good mood. Then, we found Ryan and Robin and they were full of hugs. The whole time, they kept coming back and hugging us. Then, we found Jason in his group. He hugged us all and then stuck pretty close to Monte and all the kids love Korey. We had a really nice brief visit. It was really reassuring. I wasn't sure how they would feel about us leaving them, but I will fill you in on everything else that has happened in the next few days. Please also pray for our relationship with the kids. It has been rough bringing them here, we have turned their world upside down and they don't understand us. (I am sorry, this really isn't making sense, I will try to piece it together for you later....) I think I need to go to bed....

We love you and are praying! God will go before you and walk with you during this really hard transition. Keep pressing into Him and He will be your strength when you feel weak. He will be your translator and bridge the gap till you are able to do so yourselves. We are praying...

COMMENT FROM MELINDA LANHAM

I don't know how often I will be able to write because our computer died. Jenni has been kind enough to post for me. Know that we are praying for your throughout the day. We are looking forward to meeting the kids and spending time with your family. I remember how tired I would get with all the paper work and it seems so much less than what you are doing. WE are praying for your strength and favor with all the officials. WE are praying that God would bless the hears of you and your children as you begin forming your forever family. We know he has good plans for you, plans for hope and a future! We love you all and miss you greatly.

Blessings,
Melinda
